Abstract

The presentation of the case referred to belongs to an infant, whose development during his first year of life was conditioned by the Cornelia de Lange syndrome, diagnosed from 6 months of age. The characteristic features that allow the diagnosis of this genetic syndrome are delimited, as well as the elements that indicate the delay in psychomotor development. To obtain this information, the interview with the family members and the observation of the child were used. Among the main results that were obtained, the clinical characteristics that are verified and demonstrate the veracity of the diagnosis made as well as the description of the main present limitations related to socialization, communication, manipulation of objects and motor development are highlighted.
