Abstract

It was performed an observational, analytical and cohort study at the Central Hospital of the Nampula province, in Mozambique, between the 2012- 2013; with the aim to determine some echographic variables, hypothetically related with the diagnostic of malignancy of the hepatic tumor. The universe was constituted by 121 patients diagnosed with liver tumor, through the abdominal echography. The sample was constituted by 109 patients. For the analysis of the echographic variables probably associated to the malignancy of the liver tumor, there were established comparisons with the anatomopathological study. It was used the X2 (Chi square) test, with a significance level of 0, 05; it was estimated the magnitude of the associations by means of the calculation of the relative risk (RR). The patients with heterogeneous injuries showed greater possibilities for the anatomopathological malignant confirmation. The level of echogenicity and the size of the injury were not presented according to the anatomopathological diagnosis. The patients with multiple hepatic injuries duplicated the possibilities of malignancy. The echography evidenced anatomopathological agreement for the greatest part of the positive cases of malignancy.
