Abstract

Hemodialysis is a therapy modality that substitutes the renal function. It is developed with a machine known as artificial kidney, to obtain it, it is necesary and important the ultra- pure dialysis liquid, prepared with highly purified water. To get this water it is necessary a treatment system to remove the chemical and  microbiological contaminants that may be present in the drinking water, because at the time of passing through the bloodstream of the patients, these contaminats  may produce acute adverse reactions at short and long terms. The objective of this work is to evaluate the results of the Physical- Chemical and Microbiological analysis of the reverse osmosis water plant, used to prepare the dialysis liquid from Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Province Hospital in Bayamo, Granma during the period January –December, 2009.  For this purpose there were analysed 12 and 24 samples in the chemistry and microbiology laboratory in the CPHEM from Bayamo, Granma. The following chemical patterns were determined: ph, electric conductivity, total hardness, chlorine, nitrates and sulphates, using the referred methods in the water standard of 1985. To perform the research of the microbiological patterns and total heterotrophos count there was applied the Spread plate and Pseudomona techniques according to the technique of the most appropriated  number. According to the ph, the 58.33% of the researched samples were under the required values. According to the total hardness, the 66.66% was over the admitted numbers. The 100% of the samples with electric conductivity are over the established pattern.   In the analyzed samples the chlorine, sulfates and nitrates were not detected. The microbiological indicators like colonies formation units and pseudomonas, were not present. It was evidenced that the water  contained a high  miocrobiological  quality index. There were spotted some physical – chemical patterns (ph, total hardness and conductivity) with values out of the established rules.
