Abstract

It was performed a Quasi-experimental intervention research of a group of women from Bayamo with breast cancer, with the aim of evaluating and controlling the impact caused by the diagnosis of the disease, surgery and coadjuvant treatments in their emotional States. The evaluation was carried out using observation, psychological tests (Idare, inventory of Beck, the Coopersmith self-esteem test) and interviews. The results indicated that 100% of the sample objects of study were affected by anxious – depressive sates. To control these states there were applied techniques of: analysis of the sources of anxiety, register or journal of reflections and states as well as the later analysis, breathing techniques, visualization and self –dialog. It was evidenced that patients improved their emotional states, showing themselves communicative, cooperative, they were able to express their concerns and experiences, and they joined the activities planned by the group showing their self-validism that was expressed in a greater willingness to face the treatments and the disease with new strategies and styles of confrontation, improving their quality of life.
