Cantrell’s Pentalogy. The first case report in Swaziland
Abstract
Introduction: cantrell’s Pentalogy is a weird syndrome characterized by deficiency of the mesodermal structures of the medium line and the cardiac anomalies.
Presentation of the case: it was presented a 36 year-old- African female patient with an echography after 22 and 28 weeks, reporting the presence of an intestinal lug in the amniotic liquid.
Discussion: it was obtained a masculine newborn of 31 weeks of gestation and 2000gr with multiple malformations, for which the Cantrell’s pentalogy was evidenced. He died a few minutes after birth.
Conclusions: the CP is a weird syndrome given by congenital defects that can be suspected from the performance of the echography for chromosomopathy markers in the first trimester of the pregnancy, favouring a suitable advice to the couple through an interdisciplinary group formed by geneticists, gynaecologists and surgeons.
