Abstract

Arboviral diseases represent an emerging public health concern in Cuba and the Americas, with particular relevance in pediatric populations. This study aimed to characterize the clinical and epidemiological profile of dengue, oropouche fever, and chikungunya in pediatric patients. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 59 patients under 18 years of age treated at Policlínico Francisca Rivero Arocha, Manzanillo, Granma, between September 2025 and March 2026. Diagnosis was confirmed by RT-PCR and/or IgM/IgG serology. Dengue accounted for 61.0% of cases (n=36), followed by Oropouche fever (22.0%; n=13) and chikungunya (17.0%; n=10). The 5–9-year age group was the most affected (35.6%), with a slight male predominance (55.9%). Hemorrhagic manifestations were more frequent in dengue (27.8%; p=0.021). Chronic arthralgia lasting more than 30 days was observed in 60.0% of chikungunya cases. Oropouche fever showed the highest hospitalization rate (61.5%) and neurological manifestations in 23.1% of patients. Distinct clinical profiles were identified among the three arboviral infections in pediatric patients, with implications for the development of targeted surveillance and clinical management strategies.
