Abstract

Teenage pregnancy, at this point in the 21st century, constitutes a public health problem whose persistence calls into question the effectiveness of policies implemented in recent decades. Although it may be considered a widely addressed topic in the specialized literature, the lack of significant reductions in adolescent fertility rates fully justifies keeping it at the center of academic debate and on the agenda of decision-makers. The journal Multimed has maintained an editorial line sensitive to these issues; however, in the last five years, it has published only one article that addresses teenage pregnancy from various perspectives. The persistence of the figures presented in that article demands renewed research efforts, since the normalization of teenage pregnancy in academic discourse could have an adverse effect: that of assuming it to be an unchangeable phenomenon about which everything has already been said.
