Risk factors of ischemic acute cerebrovascular diseases
Abstract
Introduction: the ischemic acute cerebrovascular illnesses have high morbidity and disability.
Objective: to know the association degree between the hypothetically important risk factors and the occurrence of the ischemic acute cerebrovascular disease in a population of Venezuela.
Method: a study of cases and witnesses was carried out. The sample was taken at random and it was integrated by 125 cases and 125 witnesses. The odd ratio was determined for every hypothetically influential risk factor and their reliable intervals at 95% (IC95%) were determined.
Results: in the unvaried analysis all factors constituted a risk, for the acute cerebrovascular disease. The hypertension was the main risk factor into the multivaried analysis, increasing 6.3 times the risk (OR 6,32 IC 4,12- 10,56), followed by diabetes mellitus(OR 4,57 IC 2,54 – 7,89) and hypercholesterolemia (OR 3,267IC 2,67 – 8,96).
Conclusions: the hypertension, the diabetes mellitus and the hypercholesterolemia had the greatest association with the appearance of the cerebrovascular ischemic illness.
