Abstract

Meniscus injuries are caused by trauma related or not to sports activity and by degenerative disorders that are observed in patients, generally over 40 years of age. With the aim of evaluating the results of surgical treatment in 51 patients operated on arthroscopically for knee meniscus injuries in the orthopedic and traumatology service of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Surgical Clinical Hospital in Bayamo, in the period from January 2017 to December 2018, a prospective longitudinal intervention study was performed in patients who underwent surgery arthroscopically for knee meniscus injuries. The universe of the study consisted of 357 patients who underwent arthroscopy in the orthopedics and traumatology department. The sample was made up of 51 patients. The results of arthroscopic treatment according to the Lysholm functional evaluation scale in patients with knee meniscus injuries, showed that patients with good-excellent functional evaluation prevailed. Frequent complications were hemarthrosis and knee synovitis.
