Surgical treatment in comminuted fractures of medial third clavicle

Abstract

A retrospective study was carried out in a population of 52 patients with clavicle fracture during January 2004 to January 2007 at ages from 18 to 52 years old. From them 18 were comminuted fractures of medial third which received surgery using an intramedular flat Steinmann nail. During transoperatory there were found compromising elements in the evolution of conservative surgery if there was not decided surgery. Good results were fulfilled with this procedure (88.8%), and it was made a comment of the important of surgery in this kind of fractures.
