Abstract

It was made an experimental study in two family doctor’s offices belonging to Popular Council Dos Ríos covered by “Edor de los Reyes Martínez Areas” Policlinic from Jiguaní municipality from October 2004 to May 2006 to demonstrate the efficiency of intervention actions made in the rehabilitation of asthmatic children applying to them a system of physical exercises and traditionally respiratory exercises. There were included all asthmatic children who wanted to participate. Parents gave informed consent. The population was divided into two groups, group I in which there was not applied exercises system and were followed during intercrisis treatment, and group II in which the system was applied. We related ponderal development with asthma degrees, so as the results of first and last diagnosis in both groups. We also evaluated the effectiveness of the actions made in group II based on the asthma crisis behavior in the analyzed period. With the exercises applied there was obtained a considerable lowering in the crisis of children studied in both groups, being greater in group II. We demonstrated the effectiveness of the exercises system proposed, in the rehabilitation actions as an alternative in treating asthma and we conclude that there is superiority in exercises application lowering significantly and constantly the number of crisis in a year without worsening.
