Abstract

It was performed an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, type of prescription-indication study of the use of drugs, in order to evaluate the use of antibacterial in Santa Maria´s Health Center in Brazil during March of 2015. It was created a database with the medical records of patients receiving antibacterial prescriptions. Patients over 60 and females were the most affected and supposedly healthy ones. The ARI had a greater incidence: community-acquired pneumonia and acute pharyngotonsillitis, followed by urinary tract infections. For therapeutic groups in descending order they were prescribed: cephalosporin, penicillin, macrolides and quinolones; corresponding with drugs: cephalexin, penicillin, ciprofloxacin, and azythromycin; that is why the quality of the prescription was properly assessed according to the recommendations of the Therapeutic Guide for Primary Health Care in Cuba.
