Abstract

It was performed an observational descriptive research to value the descendence in consanguineous groups in the health area belonging to Faustino Perez Hernandez Policlinic,  Buey Arriba, Granma, since January to December, 2004. The sample had 100 marriages. There was applied a survey to each consanguineous marriage to obtain the research data. There were also elaborated the genealogical trees of the affected families. The main results evidenced that marriages with first kinships (cousins, second cousins) prevailed. 73% of the ill descendence was found in the rural area. The greatest amount of sick children was evidenced in consanguineous marriages with first level of consanguinity, 58%.

82% of the couples did not received genetical advice. The most frequent pathologies found in descendence were the congenital cardiovascular anomalies, Retinitis Pigmentosa, Mental retardation, Epilepsy and finally the Infantile Brain Paralysis. The families that brought more sick peolpe to the research were: the Almeida Labrada, Santos Castro and Fontela Rodriguez.
